EU needs to do more to implement crypto regulations: BTC. X CEO

Christian Anders, CEO of BTC. x has said that despite the Market for Crypto Assets (MiCA) being signed into law, the European Union (EU) may need to do a lot of lobbying with different regulators in Europe and work with different governments.

In an interview with Cointelegraph, Anders said that in order for the crypto framework outlined in the MiCA to be accepted in most European countries, such as Sweden, a “push” may be needed. He added that the MiCA provides a framework for governing the crypto industry and is expected to bring clarity.

Anders noted that crypto exchanges are eagerly awaiting full implementation of the MiCA framework, while acknowledging that governments such as Sweden are reluctant to issue new licenses for crypto companies. He stressed that though these governments cannot stop the structure, they can delay its progress. Furthermore, he noted the possibility of governments finding the MICA framework inadequate, leading to a two-way power dynamic.

When asked which crypto exchange or principle the United States Securities Exchange Commission (SEC) would come for next, Anders said that he thinks Crypto.com could be the next potential target as they operate in the US. Continuing, he added that he has a more Swedish outlook and can relate to the recent crackdown by the SEC on Binance and Coinbase. Anders said the SEC shares a similar approach with the government in Sweden because regulatory challenges are occurring on a smaller scale in Sweden than in the US.

Anders remains optimistic about bitcoin, dismissing any negative connotations. He believes that the efforts of banks and governments to stifle the development of cryptocurrencies only increase his enthusiasm. His claim makes the superiority of bitcoin (BTC) clear when compared to the flaws in the fiat system and the stress caused by inflation.

The CEO highlighted the rise of the mining industry with companies like Intel entering the mining industry and manufacturing mining machines. He added that bitcoin mining is gaining traction in Europe, especially with the increased use of renewable energy. Additionally, he stressed that the younger generation’s affinity for these technologies reinforces their role in shaping the future.
