Janata Dal (United) spokesperson and former MLC Ranbir Nandan on Sunday accused the BJP of pushing the country into communal tension and severe unemployment. Nandan also accused the BJP of indulging in personal worship, a remark targeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Nitish Kumar-led JD(U) parted ways with the NDA and returned to the Grand Alliance in August last year. Since then, CM Kumar has been actively meeting regional and national political leaders to build a united opposition against the NDA ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections in which PM Modi will seek a third straight term.
Speaking in Patna, Nandan said that the people of this country never accepted Nathu Ram Godse, who killed Mahatma Gandhi. He said the forces that worshiped Godse and tried to tamper with the rich Indian culture and history have been brought down. Attacking the BJP, he said that the ruling party could have taken the country on the path of development in the last nine years, but indulged in personal worship leaving the country in complete disarray. “The country is in the grip of communal tension and is facing severe financial crisis and severe unemployment,” he said.
Ranbir Nandan said that farmers are suffering because the government has made only hollow promises for their upliftment. “None of the initiatives have been completed, including the Smart City project, Namami Gange and Adarsh Gaon. The BJP looks desperate as it has no agenda for the 2024 polls,” he said.
The JDU leader said the move of opposition unity initiated by Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar would eventually lead to the ouster of the present regime. He said, “Any movement that started from Bihar reaches its logical conclusion and changes the course of political history. The JP movement is a perfect example in this context.”
Ranbir Nandan said that the BJP has become apprehensive of the outcome of the move of opposition unity and is therefore indulging in all kinds of divisive agenda to divert the attention of the people. “But this time the saffron forces have lost their feet. The BJP is bound to lose assembly elections in Maharashtra, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh and Gujarat after Madhya Pradesh,” he said.
