Gujarat: A newly constructed bridge over Mindhola river on the road connecting Maipur and Degama villages in Vyara tehsil of Tapi district of Gujarat collapsed on Wednesday. Around 15 villages have been affected by the collapse of the bridge. News agency ANI quoted executive engineer Nirav Rathod as saying, “The construction work of the bridge was to begin in 2021 with a cost of Rs 2 crore. The cause of the bridge collapse will be ascertained after a probe by experts.”

Flyover under construction in Guwahati, Assam
Two people were injured when an iron shuttering slab of an under-construction flyover bridge collapsed in Guwahati’s Maligaon area on Tuesday, June 13. According to reports, the shuttering slab fell from the bridge under construction. A vehicle was also damaged in the incident. The injured persons were taken to the hospital.
Aguwani-Sultanganj Bridge in Bhagalpur, Bihar
On June 4, the under-construction Aguwani-Sultanganj bridge in Bhagalpur, Bihar, fell into the Ganges river. According to reports, about 100 feet of the bridge being built to connect Khagaria and Bhagalpur districts has fallen into the river for the second time.

The dream project of Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and a part of this bridge being built with a budget of Rs 1750 crore had collapsed in April last year.
Bahuda River Bridge in Srikakulam, Andhra
On May 3, an old bridge over the Bahuda river near Ichhapuram town in Andhra Pradesh’s Srikakulam district collapsed when a lorry laden with granite was passing, news agency ANI quoted officials as saying. District officials said a lorry loading 70 tonnes of granite was passing over the British-era bridge when it collapsed. No loss of life or property has been reported in this incident.
Bridge connecting Renuka-ji to Sangrah in Himachal
On April 24, a bridge connecting Renuka ji to Sangrah in Sirmour district of Himachal Pradesh collapsed. According to officials, road connectivity between Nahan and Renukji to Sangrah and Haripurdhar was disrupted due to collapse of Danoi bridge. Commuters were advised to switch to an alternate route and take Zarg-Khud, Drabil-Koti and Dhiman-Khalkyar roads instead.

On April 16, 62 people were injured in a tragic accident after a foot over bridge in Udhampur’s Chennai block collapsed. The bridge collapsed during Baisakhi festival at Beni village in Chennai block of Udhampur. A one-day Baisakhi fair was organized by the Mela Committee at Bani Sangam in Chennai on the banks of the holy Devika River. Around 100 people were standing on the bridge during the fair, when suddenly the bridge collapsed and all the people fell into the river.

On April 16, an iron bridge over the Dhauliganga river connecting Niti Valley in Chamoli district suddenly broke down. The Valley Bridge over the Dhauliganga River connecting Niti Valley in Burans near Malari suddenly broke down. A truck also fell into the river due to the incident. However, there has been no loss of life or property.
Kopili River Bridge, Nagaon, Assam
At least four people were injured when an under-construction bridge collapsed in Assam’s Nagaon on March 16. According to reports, the incident took place in Kampur area of Central Assam district, where people engaged in their work on an under-construction bridge over Kopili river fell after the bridge collapsed.
Bridge under construction in Patna, Bihar
On 19 February, an under-construction bridge collapsed in Bihar’s Patna district. The incident took place on the Bihta-Sarmera four-lane road. The road connecting Patna to Nalanda district is partially built. The incident is of Rustamganj village of Naubatpur block of the district. No one was injured in this accident.
Choli Bridge in Chamba, Himachal Pradesh
On February 3, two vehicles were damaged after the Choli bridge collapsed in Himachal Pradesh’s Chamba district. No casualty or injury has been reported in this incident.
Iron bridge in Darbhanga, Bihar
On January 16 this year, an iron bridge collapsed after being hit by an overloaded truck in Darbhanga district of Bihar. The incident is of Sabohar Ghat of Kusheshwar Sthan block of Darbhanga district. Situated on Kamla Balan river, this bridge is connecting Darbhanga with Madhubani, Saharsa and Samastipur districts.
