Dashlane, the best business password manager, now supports Passkey for Android 14 users.
This means users can store their passwordless credentials in the Dashlane app across platforms — previous versions of Android, however, restricted Passkey to use exclusively with Google Password Manager.
With Android 14, however, passkeys can be stored on any third-party compatible manager, of which Dashlane is now one. This also means that passkeys will be shareable cross-platform as well.

Passkey is the new passwordless solution that is touted to be both more convenient and more secure than passwords. They use cryptographic keys stored on the device that are unknown to anyone, making them phishing-resistant. All you need is what you use to lock your smart device, such as your fingerprint, face or PIN, to authenticate your login.
Currently, only a few major services allow their users to log in with a passkey. These include Apple, Google, PayPal, eBay, BestBuy, and Adobe.
However, Dashlane believes that, “in the near future, most large websites will adopt Passkey as an industry standard.”
As Dashlane is cross platform, this means that your Passkey will be available on whatever device you choose, be it Android, iOS or desktop. One of the drawbacks of using proprietary managers is that you are locked to using your passkeys on that platform alone.
Also coming soon to Dashlane will be the ability to share your passkey with other users, such as family members or colleagues within your organization.
To activate Dashlane as a Passkey provider on Android, users need to navigate to “Settings,” then “Passwords & Identity,” and then select Dashlane in the list of “Passwords, Passkeys, and data services.” It happens.
The company has also created a demo to show how Passkey works, as the services available are still quite limited. Also, the only Android browser that can generate a passkey is the experimental Google Chrome Canary build.
A small key icon next to your items in Dashlane Vault indicates that a passkey has been set up for that service. You can also edit the title of the passkey, add notes, and modify its location.
Currently, Dashlane only supports Passkeys on its web platform and Android 14. Support for Dashlane web extensions is coming soon, as is support after the release of iOS 17, which is expected this September.
