New York: Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who is on a four-day visit to the US, was on Tuesday accorded a warm welcome by the NRI community at Hotel Lotte, where he will be staying during his visit to New York. Chants of “Bharat Mata Ki Jai” echoed throughout the hotel as the Indian community cheered and waved their flags to see the Prime Minister.
As Indian expatriates cheered to see the Prime Minister and proudly waved their flags, there was a sense of excitement in the crowd, eager to catch a glimpse of PM Modi and interact with him during his visit.
The Prime Minister also held a meeting with the Bora community at the hotel. Expressing his deep happiness on getting the opportunity to see and meet PM Modi, an Indian-origin person in the US said, “I consider myself extremely fortunate to have met Prime Minister Modi here in the United States of America.”
Meanwhile, another Indian native said, “The aura around PM Modi is really remarkable, and he has welcomed us so warmly with such calmness and kindness. We are very thrilled.” Earlier on Tuesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi reached John F Kennedy International Airport in New York and was given a grand welcome.

PM Modi is expected to meet CEOs, Nobel laureates, economists, artists, scientists, scholars, entrepreneurs, academicians and health sector experts on Tuesday (local time). He will attend the Yoga Day celebrations at the UN Headquarters on June 21. After this, PM Modi will go to Washington DC and will receive a formal welcome at the White House on 22 June.
US President Joe Biden and First Lady Jill Biden will host a state dinner in the Prime Minister’s honor the same evening. The Prime Minister will also address a joint sitting of the US Congress on the same day.
On June 23, the Prime Minister will be jointly hosted by US Vice President Kamala Harris and US Secretary of State Antony Blinken for a luncheon. Apart from official engagements, the Prime Minister is scheduled to have a number of interactions with key CEOs, professionals and other stakeholders.
He will also meet members of the Indian Diaspora.
