In a remarkable feat that attracted widespread attention, Apala Mishra, a skilled dentist, not only cracked the Civil Services Examination but also topped the exam setting a new record. Apala’s family lives in Ghaziabad, a resident of Basti in Uttar Pradesh. His father, Amitabh Mishra, was in the rank of Colonel in the Army and has recently retired, while his brother is currently serving as a Major. Education has always been a priority in Apala’s family, and with her innate passion for learning, she excelled in her academic pursuits from a young age. After completing his 10th standard in Dehradun, he studied 11th and 12th in Rohini, Delhi. He then completed his Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) from the Army College. However, driven by his aspiration to serve the society, he set his sights on becoming an IAS officer.

After completing his medical studies, Apala Mishra instead of practicing dentistry started preparing for the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) examinations. Although his first attempt in 2018 was unsuccessful, he did not let the failure deter him. Undeterred, he redoubled his efforts and dedicated himself to intensive preparation. Initially, he sought guidance from coaching classes, but eventually shifted his focus to self-study. When she appeared for the UPSC exam for the second time, she faced another disappointment, but she persevered. In 2020, she took her third attempt and not only qualified but also secured a position among the top 10 candidates.

Apala Mishra scored the highest marks that year during the interview round. She scored 215, surpassing the previous record of 212 set in 2019. Apala revealed that during UPSC preparation, she devoted seven to eight hours of daily study and emphasized on effective time management. Her hard work and dedication paid off and in 2022 she secured 9th rank in the prestigious exam.
