Seoul: Korean singer Choi Sung Bong is reported to have died by suicide and was found at 9.41 am (local time) on Tuesday in Yeoksam-dong district of Seoul. He was 33 years old. His lie of multiple types of cancer was exposed just two years after his death when he asked many fans to donate cash for his treatment. He later apologized for the deception and promised to return all donations.
According to the Daily Mail, police believe his death was caused by a note posted on his YouTube channel the day before the suicide, in which he apologized for his “silly mistakes”. In it, she thanked her fans for their support of her career, as she wrote: “From 2011 until now, I have been receiving attention and love from so many people. I sincerely thank you and express my gratitude Am.”
He apologized for the 2021 scam: “I am sincerely sorry for my silly mistakes and to those who have been harmed, and I have made mistakes over and over again. For the past two years, we have returned them all Those who have asked for the return of charity.
The South Korean singer, who rose to fame on TVN’s ‘Korea’s Got Talent’, received special praise for her operatic rendition of Ennio Morricone’s ‘Nella Fantasia’, which impressed the judges and catapulted her to the finals. Ultimately finishing second by only 280 votes.
The YouTube clip of her performance on the show went viral and has been viewed over 21 million times. K-pop stars like BoA and Jung-hwa Um also liked it and promoted it on social media.
Justin Bieber also praised Choi on his Facebook page, with the pop star writing: “This is amazing. Never say never, and good luck to this kid. Great story.”
Following his stint on the talent show, he released several singles including ‘Slowcoach’ in 2016, ‘Tonight’ in 2021 and ‘I Pray’ in 2022.
