There is much curiosity among space lovers as the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) and the US National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) have reached an agreement to collaborate on a shared mission to the International Space Station (ISS) in 2024.
The first Indian “cosmonaut” Wing Commander Rakesh Sharma expressed hope that in 2024, the long-awaited Indian manned mission would finally become a reality. Sharma, who holds a significant place in Indian history, confidently suggested that next year another Indian will join the ranks of space explorers.

The person referred to as “astronaut” is discussing the Gaganyaan mission, which is separate from the joint mission of ISRO and NASA. The mission of ISRO and NASA will serve as the initial step towards the Gaganyaan mission operated by ISRO.
Astronaut Wing Commander Sharma said Eurasian Times Eighteen months is a reasonable time frame to prepare an astronaut for a space mission. He further mentioned that even if the joint Indo-US mission takes place before India’s manned mission, it would be beneficial as it would provide valuable experience to someone from India’s space programme.
On April 3, 1984, Wing Commander Rakesh Sharma embarked on an eight-day space journey aboard the Salyut 7 space station. He was launched into space through the Soyuz T-11 mission.
