Some Google Pixel owners on Reddit are reporting increased battery consumption and overheating after the big Pixel feature drop update in June. Others have also noted poor signal quality and the inability to select text. Google has yet to officially confirm any such bugs, and we haven’t independently verified these issues on our own Pixel phones.
Google’s latest Pixel feature drop adds a host of useful new features, including cinematic wallpapers, an emoji workshop, a macro focus mode for videos, and advanced AI-powered charging management.
According to one, the update may also include hidden features such as battery drain, overheating and signal drop issues. Post to the r/GooglePixel subreddit, in response, some pixel 6 And pixel 7 Users agree and attribute the diminished experience on Google phones to the June feature drop.
“At my job (in an all steel building) I always got at least some signals, even if they were pretty bad. Now if I have a service it’s like flipping a coin. Thankfully the wifi at home is great, but I thought it was interesting how it changed after the update,” said one complaining Pixel owner.
Google faced a similar overheating issue in May due to a server-side update to the Google app. The company managed to solve this in a short time but signal, modem and thermal problems seem to be endemic to the Tensor processor.
We hope this will not be a recurring problem
To be fair, we haven’t personally noticed this increased battery consumption on our individual Pixels. However, complaints about Google’s Pixels seem to be on the rise. The company’s switch to Tensor, its own SOC platform, has been fraught with problems. The processor has earned a reputation for heating and battery concerns, and we’ve experienced these problems pixel 6a review And pixel 7a reviews,
Also, it’s worth noting that the Pixel is still one of the best Android phones out there. They have great designs and powerful cameras, and their software is still quite good and comparable to iOS in its simplicity and design, if not better.
However, if Google’s thermal, signal, and software issues continue for another year or two, the company may find it difficult to stand among the best smartphones, especially when Apple and Samsung deliver excellent experiences year after year.
