If you haven’t looked at the latest generation of foldable smartphones, I encourage you to do so — these aren’t your parent’s flip phones. Manufacturers like Google, Samsung and, yes, Motorola are behind the revival of the foldable with better smarts, design, user interface, cameras and, increasingly, durability.
As we approach Samsung’s next Unpacked event in July, rumors are rife as to what new features the company’s latest model of foldables will feature. But apart from better cameras and battery life, durability is something that comes into play with foldable phones, especially since these devices are more prone to wear and tear than other smartphones.

Foldables should be built to withstand repeated folding and opening, whether done with kindness or with a flair for theatrics, if you get my point. In addition to repeated bending, these phones must also withstand impact to prevent the screens from breaking apart when dropped in clamshell mode.
Samsung is reportedly building the Galaxy Z Flip 5 with Gorilla Glass Victus 2, the durable glass included in the Galaxy S23 series launched earlier this year.

Better durability hinges on an improved flex, and rumor has it that Samsung’s Flip 5 will have a 30% better flex mode than the Flip 4.
