Team India will have a busy schedule of traveling around the world before getting ready to host the ICC ODI Cricket World Cup 2023. The complete schedule of cricket matches for Rohit Sharma’s team has also come to the fore.
Team India will leave for West Indies next month for a series of 2 Tests, 3 ODIs and 5 T20 matches on the Caribbean tour in the months of July and August. They will then end August in Ireland where they will take on Andrew Balbirnie’s Irish side for a three-match T20I series in August.
Team India will take on arch-rivals Pakistan in the Asia Cup 2023 from August 31. The Asia Cup 2023 will be played in a ‘hybrid’ model to be jointly hosted by Pakistan and Sri Lanka.
After the conclusion of the Asia Cup, Rohit Sharma’s men will take on former World Cup champions Australia in a three-match ODI series at home followed by a three-match ODI series against Afghanistan in the same month.
The World Cup for India will officially begin on October 8 against Australia in Chennai. The Rohit Sharma-led Indian team will be the most traveled team among the top contenders in the upcoming ODI World Cup, covering a distance of nearly 8400 km crossing nine cities for nine league games in 34 days.
If India reaches the semi-finals and then the final, the distance covered for 11 games in 42 days would be close to 9700 km. While 8400 km in 34 days doesn’t sound like a lot, considering that the Indian players will finish their games around 11 pm and every third day they will have a flight to catch up, after a grueling 100-over game it is indeed Gets very tiring.
Once the team lands in Chennai for the Australia game, the aerial distance covered will be in this order: Chennai to Delhi (1761 km), Delhi to Ahmedabad (775 km), Ahmedabad to Pune (516 km), Pune to Dharamshala (1936 km), Dharamshala to Lucknow (748 km), Lucknow to Mumbai (1190 km), Mumbai to Kolkata (1652 km) and Kolkata to Bengaluru (1544 km).
