Have you ever tried to apply foundation and concealer in shades that exactly match your skin tone, only to realize that something just doesn’t feel right? Unfortunately, if you have discolored skin, this is very often the case. Maybe it’s time to use a color corrector.
What exactly does color corrector do?
Coloring your face green or red can be intimidating at first, but using a color corrector is actually quite simple. Color correction is entirely dependent on color theory and the complementary colors within this theory.
Twinkle says, “A color corrector is a product that is used to correct imperfections or unwanted discoloration on the skin that cannot be covered completely by foundation or concealer alone.”
How do you decide which color corrector is right for you?
Unlike other complexion products, color correctors aren’t exactly chosen based on your skin tone. Instead, the tones you’re trying to cancel out are taken into account when selecting color correctors. The color wheel and complementary colors are used to design color correctors. Colors that are complementary cancel each other out.
Beauty influencer Twinkle Varshney suggests, “Try using a peach color corrector for light to medium skin tones or a tan for blue or gray tones such as dark circles under the eyes or brown to gray patches on the skin.” For darker skin tones than try using an orange color corrector.”
Try using a green or olive color corrector for skin that is prone to acne, textured rosacea, dermatitis, or excessive redness.
How should the color corrector be used?
Instead of spreading the corrector by wiping the brush back and forth, “I apply the corrector with my fingers and pat it lightly onto the area I’m correcting. Using my finger gives a precise application and I find it allows it to press inside the skin” says Twinkle.
After effective coating and blending of the Orange Corrector, the final step is to return to applying your regular foundation and concealer. Notice how corrector acts as a flawless base, neutralizing areas of concern and enabling your foundation to go on smoothly. For a flawless finish, spread the foundation evenly over your face and blend it.
So, the next time you’re faced with stubborn dark circles or discoloration, don’t be afraid to embrace the power of an orange color corrector. With precision and expertise, you can unlock the secret to flawless makeup and radiate confidence wherever you go.
