Gorakhpur: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday attended the closing ceremony of the centenary celebrations of Gita Press in Uttar Pradesh’s Gorakhpur and said the world’s largest publisher of Hindu religious literature is “no less than a temple”. In his concluding speech, PM Modi said, “Sometimes saints show the way, sometimes organizations like Geeta Press.”
“Gita Press has 1,600 publications in 15 languages and propagates the concept of “Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat” among the people. The office of Geeta Press is no less than a temple for crores of people. There is Gita in its name as well as in its work. The spiritual light that ignited here in the form of Geeta Press in 1923 is guiding humanity today. PM Modi said, “It is our good fortune that we all are witnessing the golden century of this humanitarian mission.”
The Prime Minister said that an institution like Gita Press is not only associated with dharma and karma, but also has a “national character”. He said, “Gita Press connects India and strengthens India’s solidarity. It is an institution that has always enriched social values and shown the path of duty to the people.” The Prime Minister said, Geeta Press is the only printing press in the world which is not just an organization but a living faith.

PM Modi’s remarks came days after the Congress attacked the Center for giving the Gandhi Peace Prize to Gita Press, which claims to be the largest publishing house of Hindu religious literature, PM Modi said the publisher through its work From “Guiding Humanity”.
PM Modi later also flagged off Vande Bharat trains. On reaching here, PM Modi was welcomed by Governor Anandiben Patel and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. The Prime Minister released the pictorial Shiva Purana Granth at Gita Press, the largest publisher of Hindu religious textbooks in the world, and also visited the Leela Chitra temple there.
Geeta Press was recently awarded the Gandhi Peace Prize for 2021 by a jury headed by PM Modi. The award is an annual award instituted by the Central Government in 1995 and carries a prize money of Rs 1 crore, a citation, a plaque and a traditional handicraft or handloom item.
Geeta Press has refused to accept the award money and said that it will only accept the citation. PM Modi will also flag off the first semi-high-speed Gorakhpur-Lucknow Vande Bharat train and Jodhpur-Sabarmati Vande Bharat Express of North Eastern Railway.
In his address, the Prime Minister said that his visit to Gorakhpur, which included a visit to the Gita Press and the launch of modern trains, exemplifies his government’s policy of combining development with heritage.
PM Modi said, “This time’s visit to Gorakhpur is a unique example of ‘heritage also, development also’ policy.” He said that after centuries the dream of a grand Ram temple in Ayodhya is going to be fulfilled. He also mentioned the redesigned Navy insignia based on the flag of Maratha ruler Chhatrapati Shivaji.
“Even after 75 years of independence, we were carrying the insignia of slavery on our naval ensign. We were following English traditions beside our Parliament in the national capital. So, we confidently set about changing them and Gave his heritage and PM Modi said, “Traditions should get the recognition they deserve.”
He said, “That is why now the Indian Navy’s flag bears the stamp of Chhatrapati Shivaji’s time. Now the ‘Rajpath’ of the era of slavery has changed to ‘Kartavyapath’.” It is time to overcome the mindset of slavery and take pride in our heritage.”
During his speech, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath praised Modi for raising India’s position in the world. Highlighting the contribution of Gita Press, the Prime Minister said that Mahatma Gandhi was associated with it and used to write for Kalyan Patrika.
PM Modi said, “He (Gandhiji) had advised Geeta Press not to accept advertisements in Kalyan Patrika and that advice is still being followed.” Speaking on Vande Bharat trains, the Prime Minister said, “Its craze”.
He said, “Earlier leaders used to write about stoppage of trains in their areas. Now, I get letters from every part of the country requesting to run Vande Bharat trains.” Class citizens.
Later, PM Modi flagged off the Gorakhpur-Lucknow and Jodhpur-Ahmedabad (Sabarmati) Vande Bharat Express trains. He also laid the foundation stone of Rs 498 crore Gorakhpur Railway Station Redevelopment Project.
