England head coach Brendon McCullum was not allowed to enter Headingley during the third Ashes Test against Australia

England head coach Brendon McCullum found himself in a tough spot on the first day of the ongoing third Test at Headingley, Leeds. Reports emerged that he was denied entry to the venue because he did not have the correct pass and that security guards failed to recognize him as the coach. Despite the insistence of the person accompanying McCullum, the security guard made him wait. The guard even contacted his superior via radio to discuss it, but by then McCullum’s patience had given way and, as he entered the gate, he said, “You’ll just have to deal with it.”

Brendon McCullum joined England as the head coach of the Test team last year. He previously led New Zealand to the 2015 World Cup final and went on to have an impressive career, scoring 14,676 runs in 101 Tests, 260 ODIs and 71 T20Is, including 19 centuries and 76 half-centuries respectively.

Brendon McCullum captained New Zealand in 31 Tests, 62 ODIs and 28 T20Is. He was very successful as the captain of the team and won 11 Tests, 36 ODIs and 13 T20 matches.

Focusing on the match, Australia were in the driver’s seat at the end of the second day. Thanks to the contribution of Usman Khawaja (43) and Marnus Labuschagne (33), the score was 116-4. Travis Head and Mitchell Marsh were at the crease. Moeen Ali took two wickets for England while Stuart Broad and Chris Woakes took one wicket each.

Earlier in the day, Australia had managed to restrict England to 167/8. However, Ben Stokes once again stepped up and played a brilliant inning of 80 runs while counter-attacking. As a result, England managed to score 237 runs. They are currently behind in the match and would like to reach between Australia’s wickets on the third day.
