Top note-taking app Evernote has confirmed mass layoffs at its US locations as the company plans to move all operations to Europe following its acquisition by Italian firm Bending Spoon earlier this year.
The company gave no indication the move, which neither is expected to affect families in its US territories official acquisition announcement nor in a Letter from Luca Ferrari, CEO of Bending Spoon earlier this year.
Employees were informed of the layoffs on July 5, a week and a half after the June 23 announcement that most Evernote operations would be moved to Europe.

Announcing its commitment to helping laid-off workers, Evernote said:
“In most cases, this package includes 16 weeks’ pay, health insurance coverage for up to one year, and a performance bonus, which is paid proportionately as if year-end performance goals have already been achieved.” “
Looking ahead, the company said the remaining employees “will be in an ideal position to take advantage of the extensive expertise and strengths of the more than 400 workforce at Bending Spoons.” Some Bending Spoon workers have already seen their workdays filled with Evernote work following the acquisition earlier this year.
Evernote did not immediately respond techradar proIt was requested to confirm how many employees would be affected, and whether they were given the option to consider relocating to new European-based offices.
