Digital travel platform, Agoda, reveals the user preferences of Asian travelers and the choices they make when booking hotels. Information collected over the past two months shows that nearly half (46%) of Taiwanese travelers opted to include breakfast, followed by Vietnamese (43%) and Indian travelers (42%).
On the other hand, the data found South Korea (29%), Japan (27%), and Malaysia (23%) to be ranked 8th, 9th, and 10th, respectively, on the breakfast need popularity table.
When comparing domestic travel to foreign travel, Agoda observed that international travelers are more likely to opt for some comfort and peace of mind.

37% of international travelers select the ‘breakfast included’ option on Agoda, compared to 31% of those staying within country borders. 60% of Indian travelers almost always choose breakfast-inclusive packages for outbound holidays, with 41% of them choosing to avail it domestically.

“There are a number of factors that go into determining the popularity of including breakfast when booking your accommodation,” said Krishna Rathi, Agoda Country Director for India, Sri Lanka and Maldives.
“It’s often a last minute decision to make based on your plans for travel, but it’s worth noting that if you plan to start the day with a meal, it’s often best to include this when booking. The least popular destination for including breakfast in hotel reservations was South Korea, with only 1 in 10 travelers opting for a morning meal.
