After partnering with Leica for a limited edition of special edition Q2 compact cameras earlier this year, Disney has now invited Fujifilm on board with an even more exclusive project; 100 Disney-themed X100V compact cameras with branded accessories marking Disney’s 100th anniversary (and Fujifilm’s 55th anniversary).
You Can’t Buy the Fujifilm X100V in 2023 And you’ll be even more lucky (or hell-bent) to get one of these Disney-themed versions; Walk-in pre-orders began on 13 July 2023 in three Hong Kong stores, with a release date of 29 July 2023.
Fujifilm Disney Project website The list price for one of 100 cameras has been revealed, each equipped with a unique serial number, is HK$14,999. That brings the price down to around $1,918 / £1,465 / AU$2,807 – not a bad deal for either of these best compact cameras In 2023, a portion of the proceeds will also be given to the Hong Kong Community Chest to support its children and youth services.
What’s in the box?
Well… a deluxe wooden box itself is part of the package, and inside you’ll find a Disney-themed X100V that’s functionally identical to the original model. Only the revised aesthetics are new; The faux-leather finish bears the monochrome Disney Mickey and Friends Collection design, as well as Disney 100 and the unique serial number engraved on the camera’s top plate.
Additional accessories include a thumb rest, camera strap and leather half-case, all with Disney 100 branding. Considering that the asking price is the same as a regular X100V, it’s actually a slightly cheaper deal, and the design is fun too. It’s also new that a brand other than Leica is running a limited edition run of its iconic camera. I’ve always loved going to Hong Kong…now how much are the flights…
