The much awaited superhero film Superman Legacy backed by the famous DC studios is all set to roll soon. The film, which is set to tell a revised origin story of the legendary character Superman, stars talented actor David Korenswet in the lead role. Superman Legacy will be DC Studios’ first outing with renowned filmmaker James Gunn, who is best known for his MCU outings. Interestingly, speculations about the main antagonist of Superman Legacy are now doing the rounds, keeping fans curious.
Will Superman aka Clark Kent battle The Authority in James Gunn’s film?
As per the latest reports published by The Direct, the upcoming James Gunn directorial will present a completely different journey of its lead character Superman as compared to DC Studio’s previous origin story Man of Steel. For those unaware, the Henry Cavill starrer film that released in 2013 primarily focused on Superman’s Kryptonian ancestry, his bond with human foster parents, his love story with Lois Lane, and his battle with rival General Zod.
But Superman Legacy, which will primarily focus on the life of Superman aka Clark Kent in his mid-20s, will reportedly feature him clashing with the famous DC superhero team, The Authority. Speculation on this new story began when producers, specifically director James Gunn, confirmed that the film starring David Korenshwaite would feature some of the most famous DC characters including Green Lantern and Hawkgirl.
James Gunn about the Superman Legacy Complex
Earlier during a recent interaction with his fans on Instagram, director James Gunn confirmed that Superman Legacy is indeed going to feature other ‘meta-humans’ aka famous DC superheroes in key roles. “Superman is a man of two worlds: Clark with Lois, Jimmy and Perry – and Superman with his meta-human compatriots. How can I tell a complete story about Clark/Superman without including all areas of his life? ” The renowned filmmaker revealed.
Lois Lane’s role in Superman Legacy
As previously reported, the highly anticipated film will star The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel actress, Rachel Brosnahan, as Lois Lane, the Daily Plane reporter and Superman’s female love interest. Rachel Brosnahan’s Lois Lane isn’t just playing Clark Kent, aka Superman’s girlfriend, according to director James Gunn. Instead, he will be a major contributor to how the plot progresses, from Superman’s transformation into a superhero to his new identity.
