On stage at the Bitcoin 2023 conference, ledge Bitcoin mining firm announces a matching campaign for donations Marathon Digital Holdings To support the work of the Bitcoin Core developers. The marathon will match donations made to the Brink on a two-for-one basis for the duration of the convention, which ends on May 20, and will then match donations up to a total of $1 million through the end of the year.
“We are going to match dollar for dollar the $500,000 worth of donations Brink receives for Core Developers. More importantly, if you donate money during this conference, we will donate two-for-one,” said Fred Thiel, CEO of the marathon. “Therefore, if you believe in the importance of supporting core development efforts … I strongly urge you to donate 50 cents, $1, whatever you can, during the conference.”
The marathon hopes to further Brink’s support for developers maintaining and upgrading bitcoin’s code, to match all third-party donations up to a total of $500,000 by December 31, 2023. Since 2020, Brink has partnered with former lead maintainer Marco Falke, Lightning Network whitepaper author Taj Draza, and Gloria Zhao of the Bitcoin Core PR Review Club in his work to make bitcoin more accessible and advanced through grants, mentorship, and education. Has supported many developers.
“We have nine developers in five different countries, all independent developers funded by Brink,” said Mike Schmidt, Brink’s executive director. “I think we can all agree that we want this bitcoin software that is powering all this innovation on top to be better reviewed, better tested, better maintainable, easier to run and more performant That’s why at Brink we fund grantees who are spending more than 50% of their time testing and reviewing the bitcoin core code, proposing changes to the core codebase and basically building that software. Making it more secure.

“We believe this is the most secure protocol and we think we and the rest of the industry should be doing everything we can to support developers and really promote activity in the space as much as possible,” Thiel said.
