The Indian team will be aiming to break the gloom of ICC tournaments in the upcoming ICC Cricket World Cup. This World Cup could be the last chance for the likes of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma to make a mark and win the coveted title. As such, team selection for the World Cup will be closely watched and the selectors need to identify and prepare a team with the right mix of youth and experience. One player who has grabbed everyone’s attention due to his impressive IPL performances and exceptional first-class record is Yashasvi Jaiswal.
Yashasvi Jaiswal was swiftly drafted into the Indian Test team and made an impressive debut with a brilliant 171. Now after his excellent innings, there is a demand to include this young player in India’s possible World Cup team as well.
Former Indian captain Sourav Ganguly has also backed Yashasvi Jaiswal, expressing confidence that the youngster will prove to be a hit in the World Cup. Ganguly lauded Jaiswal’s maiden century and highlighted the advantages of having a left-handed batsman in the team while appreciating his solid technique.

“Scoring a century in the first match is always a big thing. I’ve done it too, so I know how special it is,” Sourav Ganguly was quoted as saying by The Telegraph.
“Technically as well, he looks really good. Having a left-handed batsman in the team always helps. So, it is important to have him in the World Cup team,” Sourav Ganguly added.
However, the selectors have included Yashasvi Jaiswal in the squad for the Asian Games to be held in China. There are players in this team whose names are not being considered for the World Cup. The decision was taken due to the conflicting schedule of the Asian Games and the 50-over event.
Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill form an impressive opening combination for India in the 50 overs, while Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer, KL Rahul form the middle order. It will be interesting to see whether the selectors include Yashasvi Jaiswal as a strong left-arm option.
