New Delhi: It is raining heavily in the states of Northeast and South India, while the northwestern part of the country is in the grip of heatwave. However, the IMD (India Meteorological Department) has predicted that northwest India will soon get respite from rising temperatures as it is likely to rain on May 22 and 23.
IMD issues heatwave warning
According to the IMD’s daily weather bulletin, heat wave conditions are likely to prevail over West Rajasthan, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, East Madhya Pradesh, Jharkhand and Gangetic West Bengal till May 23. During this, the maximum temperature is likely to increase by 2-3 degree Celsius over Northwest India. Next 3 days and after that will fall to 3-5 degree Celsius.
IMD predicts rain in MP, Chhattisgarh
IMD said that after 2 days of heatwave, rain is likely over northwest India from May 23. Light to moderate rain with thunder/lightning/gusty winds very likely over Vidarbha and Chhattisgarh during next 3 days and over Madhya Pradesh from May 23 to May 25, the Met department said.
IMD predicts heavy rain in Northeast India
It is raining heavily in the states of Northeast India and it will continue to rain in the coming days. According to the Meteorological Department, heavy rainfall is likely at isolated places over Assam and Meghalaya from May 22 to May 25 and over Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura on May 24 and 25.
Rain, thunderstorm in Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Andhra
Scattered light to moderate rain and thundershower/lightning/gusty wind very likely over many parts of Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam during next 5 days. Rain is likely over Telangana, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal on May 21. Interior Karnataka will receive rain on May 22 and 23; Kerala and Mahe during next 5 days.
