New Delhi: A massive fire broke out at a theater in Andhra Pradesh’s Vijayawada where Jr NTR’s 2003 Telugu film ‘Simhadri’ was re-released. The 2003 Telugu action-drama, which starred Jr NTR, Bhumika Chawla and Ankita in lead roles, was re-released in Telugu states on Friday on the occasion of the actor’s birthday.
The re-release of ‘Simhadri’ in the theaters got his fans excited and they thronged the halls to watch the film. However, it turned dark on Sunday evening when some over-enthusiastic fans allegedly burst firecrackers inside the Apsara Theater hall in Vijayawada, leading to a fire in the premises. The first two rows of the hall were completely gutted and damaged in the fire due to the firecrackers.
A report in News18 states that people who had come to watch the show at the theater had to be removed from the spot. However, there were some who were standing in the balcony watching the developments. A video surfaced on the internet in which theater owners are trying to douse the fire and some police personnel have been designated to help. The show had to be canceled following the fire incident and destruction of property.

Another wrote, “This is very sad. The theater owner is facing the brunt of some unruly fans.”
Directed by SS Rajamouli, ‘Simhadri’ was the filmmaker’s second collaboration with Jr NTR after ‘Student No. 1’. The film was widely re-released across Telangana and Andhra Pradesh over the weekend. The release was planned for fans to celebrate Jr NTR’s 40th birthday in a big way.
Jr NTR is currently busy shooting for his upcoming film ‘Devra’, which will mark the Telugu debut of Janhvi Kapoor. He will also reportedly be seen in ‘War 2’ alongside Hrithik Roshan.
