West Indies international all-rounder and wicket-keeper Devon Thomas has been charged by the International Cricket Council (ICC) with seven charges under their anti-corruption code. He has been provisionally suspended with immediate effect for his alleged involvement in match-fixing attempts in the Lanka Premier League, Abu Dhabi T20 and Caribbean Premier League (CPL).
The ICC has taken this action on behalf of Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC), Emirates Cricket Board (ECB) and Caribbean Premier League (CPL).
According to a release by cricket’s world governing body on Tuesday, the ICC, acting as the designated anti-corruption officer, on Thomas SLC Anti-Corruption Code (SLC Code) for participants, ECB’s Anti-Corruption Code for participants charged under the Code. T10 Cricket League (ECB Code), and CPL Anti-Corruption Code (CPL Code) for the participants.

Thomas has been charged with fixing or attempting to fix matches in the Sri Lanka Premier League 2021 under Article 2.1.1 of the SLC Code.
Furthermore, he has been accused of failing to promptly disclose to the designated Anti-Corruption Officer the full details of any approach or invitation to engage in corrupt practices in the Lanka Premier League 2021. Under Article 2.4.6 of the SLC Code, Thomas has also been charged with refusing or failing to cooperate with an investigation conducted by the Designated Anti-Corruption Officer by providing true and complete information or requested documents.
In addition, he has been accused of obstructing or delaying the investigation of corrupt practices by the Anti-Corruption Officer designated under Article 2.4.7 of the SLC Code. This includes concealing, tampering with, or destroying any relevant document or information that may be evidence of the discovery of evidence of corrupt conduct.
Thomas has been charged with failing to promptly disclose full details of any approach or invitation to engage in corrupt conduct at the Abu Dhabi T10 2021 to the Anti-Corruption Officer designated under Article 2.4.4 of the ECB Code.
Similarly, in accordance with Article 2.4.4 of the CPL Code, Thomas was charged with failing to promptly disclose to the designated Anti-Corruption Officer the full details of any approach or invitation to engage in corrupt conduct in the CPL 2021 Is.
Under Article 2.4.2 of the CPL Code, he is charged with not disclosing, without undue delay, the receipt of any gift, payment, hospitality, or benefit which he knew or should have known, for the purpose of To violate the CPL. The code may bring disrepute to the player or the game of cricket.
Devon Thomas has 14 days from May 23, 2023 to respond to the allegations. In his career, Devon Thomas has represented the West Indies in one Test, 21 ODIs and 12 T20 Internationals.
