MS Dhoni-led Chennai Super Kings (CSK) are still second on the IPL 2023 points table but their six-wicket defeat to Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in their last home match at Chepauk has put them in a precarious position. Have given. Only one match in hand. CSK’s final league match will be against Delhi Capitals away from home in Delhi on Saturday.
If CSK lose their final match on Saturday, they will have 15 points. Mumbai Indians (MI), Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) can all surpass CSK’s points tally if they win their remaining two matches. Defending champions Gujarat Titans (GT) already have 16 points and can move up to 18 points to seal a playoff spot with a win over Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Monday night.

KKR, on the other hand, are at the 7th position and are unlikely to make it to the playoff stage as they have only 12 points from 13 matches with one game in hand. The best they can achieve is reaching 14 points but it may not be enough to make the playoff stage.
Faf du Plessis continues to lead the Orange Cap table
RCB captain Faf du Plessis maintained his lead at the top of the IPL 2023 Orange Cap table. Du Plessis scored his 7th half-century of the IPL 2023 season in a massive 112-run win over Rajasthan Royals (RR) on Sunday. The RCB skipper now has 631 runs from 12 matches with 7 fifties and a strike-rate of 154.27.

Varun Chakraborty finishes 5th in Purple Cap race
KKR off-spinner Varun Chakravarthy has moved up to the 5th position in the IPL 2023 Purple Cap table. Chakraborty continued his good form, claiming 2/36 against CSK and now has 19 wickets in 13 matches this season.
Chakravarthy has taken 19 wickets along with three other bowlers – Mumbai Indians’ Piyush Chawla (3rd), Mohammed Shami (4th) of GT and CSK’s Tushar Deshpande (6th). GT leg-spinner Rashid Khan continues to hold the Purple Cap with 23 wickets in 12 matches while RR leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal is second with 21 wickets in 13 matches.
