New Delhi: Director Sanjay Puran Singh Chauhan talked about the ongoing controversy regarding his upcoming film ’72 Hooren’.
The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) on Thursday issued a statement denying reports that it has refused to issue a censor certificate to the trailer of National Award-winning director Sanjay Puran Singh Chauhan’s ’72 Hoorein’. Reports of alleged denial of censor certificate for the film’s trailer sparked a debate on creative freedom and censorship.

However, the CBFC in a statement refuted these reports saying, “Misleading reports are being circulated in certain sections of the media that a film titled “Bhattar Hurain (72 Hurain)” and its trailer have been cleared by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). ) has been refused certification by. ).”
Speaking exclusively to ANI, Sanjay said, “When you produce a film for the big screen, you want the trailer of the film to be shown in theatres. The trailer of the film is not certified by the censor board. You have been instructed to make changes to it.” Trailer on 27 July ahead of release on 28 August. How can one expect amendments in such a short span of time when it is like a last minute change?”
He said, “Why is there a problem with the trailer? It is unfair for the censor to ask for changes in the trailer at the last minute. We have to cross many hurdles to make the film.”
“Look, the one thing that unites all the controversies is that the subject has been left hanging somewhere. This film is making a serious statement. There is a lot of internal terrorism to be discussed.” Sanjay said.
He further added, “There is a difference between ‘a certificate we want to give’ and ‘a certificate we actually gave'”. It takes days to understand what cut you want while doing a film and when the trailer is about to release the next day, they want changes.
“I want people to understand the seriousness of the things that the film has tried to show. One of the major issues facing the world is terrorism. It should be addressed and talked about.”
