The Indian selectors, led by Ajit Agrakar, picked an exciting squad for the upcoming T20I series against the West Indies. Yashasvi Jaiswal and Tilak Verma were the two uncapped players who were included. Newly-appointed BCCI chief selector Ajit Agarkar has retained Hardik Pandya as T20I captain while senior players Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli have been rested. Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli have been consistently absent from the shortest format since T20 World Cup 2022 with Hardik Pandya captaining the team.
Former India batsman Aakash Chopra believes that Hardik will continue to lead the Indian team in T20Is for a long time and that includes the T20 World Cup in 2024. “Hardik Pandya, who was handed over the captaincy after the T20 World Cup – it looks like it is now a final call that Hardik Pandya will lead the Indian T20 team for the foreseeable future, till the upcoming World Cup,” Chopra said in his statement. Said on youtube channel.
Aakash Chopra also commented on the exclusion of Rohit and Kohli saying that the selectors have already moved on and have not picked any senior player. “No senior has been selected. KL Rahul is unavailable but that is amplified now that you haven’t played with Rohit and Kohli since the World Cup,” Chopra said.
