Adipurush opened to a mixed response from critics and audiences, with many taking to social media to trash the film. A PIL has also been filed against the makers and the film in the Delhi High Court. However, the film has managed to become one of the biggest openers of the year. Directed by Om Raut, the film stars Prabhas as Raghav, Kriti Sanon as Janaki and Saif Ali Khan as Raavan.

Reports suggested that the film’s initial estimates were around ₹36–38 crore for the Hindi version and an all-India collection of ₹90 crore across all languages. According to Boxofficeindia.com, the first day gross collection in India is expected to be Rs 110-112 crore. Meanwhile, it said adding the final overseas number is “day 140 crore worldwide for the film and the number may go up to 150 crore when all the collections are completed today”.

As per reports, Adipurush surpassed the biggest blockbuster Pathan, which opened at ₹57 crore in India, and the previous highest collection of Yash’s KGF 2 (Hindi version), which opened at ₹54 crore in India. On the other hand, it has surpassed Brahmastra, which opened to ₹36 crore in India.
Mashable India’s review for the film described it as a disappointment. It added, “Prabhas’ rendition of Lord Ram reminded us of his Baahubali character which is less flamboyant. There are a few scenes where the powerful dialogue delivery evokes some devotion, but it’s all played by Sharad Kelkar (Lord Rama in the Hindi version). Thank you also for the voice of Ram. of Adipurush).”
