Chouhan said this while referring to his government’s flagship Laadli Laxmi Yojana – under which a certificate is issued in the name of the girl child assuring payment of Rs 1.18 lakh at the time of her birth and in various stages till she attains the age of 21 years. An official said that the Ladli Laxmi scheme was launched in the state in 2007 and was followed by six states in the country – Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand and Goa.
