Smartwatch brand Amazfit recently launched two wearables designed specifically for runners: the aptly named Cheetah and Cheetah Pro.
The unique thing about them is that they both come with a generative AI called zep coach Which can create your own operation plan. The workout routines it generates are based on information entered into the Zepp mobile app. It takes into account a person’s own characteristics as well as their personal goals. Amazfit says These plans can also help you train for bigger races because each week the smartwatch will adjust the training plan to keep you ahead.
It is worth mentioning that Huawei has done something similar in the past as the tech brand has added its AI coach to the Watch GT Runner. But unlike Huawei, the Zepp Coach smartphone app now includes an AI chat tool to answer any fitness-related questions you may have. The company claims that interacting with the chatbot will be like having a personal trainer 24/7. Beware, this tool will only be available “for a short demo period” in select regions before it becomes a “subscription-based service”.
We reached out to Amazfit for more specifics on this chatbot, including where it’s available, how long the demo will last, and more. This story will be updated if we hear back.
make your own way
To help with your workouts, both Cheetah wearables come equipped with highly accurate GPS technology called MaxTrack that is capable of following runners through environmental obstacles ranging from skyscrapers to tall trees. Using the collected data, users can create their own running route by importing a file from the Zepp app onto the watch if they want to follow the same path later. Additionally, you can overlay a route on the device’s offline map to see other possible routes nearby.
Other notable features of the Cheetah Line include a heart rate tracker and the ability to share running routes via third-party apps google fit, The devices’ battery life can last up to two weeks on a single charge, but can be significantly reduced depending on how often you use it. For example, under heavy use, the battery will only last about a week.
availability
The difference between both the models can be seen in the specifications and some of the distinctive features.
The watches feature an HD AMOLED display with a maximum brightness of 1,000 nits for easy reading even in strong sunlight. However, Cheetah Pro comes out on top as its 1.45-inch screen can output a resolution of 480 x 480 pixels. The base model has a smaller 1.39-inch screen with a resolution of 454 x 452 pixels. The Pro watch is slightly lighter at 43 grams while the regular Cheetah weighs 47 grams.
As far as exclusive tools are concerned, the Cheetah Pro supports Bluetooth calling and offline music playback that can be listened to via connected pair of headphones Or on-device speaker.
You can buy the Amazfit Cheetah in Speedster Gray color on the company’s website $229.99,£229.90, As for the Cheetah Pro, you can buy it in a slightly different version of the base Cheetah model with a square-shaped watch face.
It will be interesting to see how Garmin responds to the Cheetah series as two of its rivals have launched wearable devices with Generative AI on board. Perhaps the next forerunner will be an OpenAI-powered chatbot.
