Apple’s highly anticipated iPhone 15 is said to launch this autumn, and a new report offers promising news for the company. The hype surrounding the iPhone 15 has led some to speculate that it will sell more than the iPhone 14. Panel manufacturing numbers are being used to make this assumption. As reported by Display Supply Chain Consultants (DSCC), panel orders for the iPhone 15 series peaked in June, suggesting strong demand for the upcoming 2023 iPhone Pro models.
As a follow-up to last year’s iPhone 14 lineup, Apple is planning to release the iPhone 15 series later this year. This will include the iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Plus, iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max. Despite the lack of an official announcement from Apple, DSCC’s research indicates that the iPhone 15 series could be in high demand.
DSCC estimates that iPhone 15 panel orders in June are expected to increase by a whopping 100 percent compared to iPhone 14 panel orders in the same month of 2022 (9to5mac). Furthermore, DSCC found that there was a higher demand for the iPhone 15 Pro display than the iPhone 14 Pro series in June. This suggests that Apple expects the demand for the iPhone 15 Pro to be high.
Compared to the regular iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus models, the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max sales were stronger last year. According to DSCC data, panel shipments of the iPhone 14 series have decreased by 22% year-on-year compared to the iPhone 13 series. Apple hasn’t officially announced the iPhone 15 lineup yet, but rumors and leaks have given us a glimpse of it. Recent rumors have suggested that the iPhone 15 Pro will include an upgraded ultra-wideband chip for better interoperability with the Apple Vision Pro mixed reality headset, as well as a new mute button to replace the old mute switch.
