The crowd at the Chepauk Stadium was on its feet during Chennai Super Kings’ last IPL 2023 match at this venue. Everyone in the stands was chanting the name of MS Dhoni as they believed that this was the last time they were going to see their superstar play on the field. Meanwhile, Team India’s original Little Master Sunil Gavaskar went up to Captain Cool to get his autograph and said that “players like him come once in a century”.
When MS Dhoni stepped onto the field to play his last home game of IPL 2023 the fans went crazy and the loud chanting from the stands didn’t let anyone on the ground talk. The stadium was packed as many of them believed that the wicket-keeper batsman would retire after this season of the cash-rich league. Sunil Gavaskar asked the World Cup-winning captain of Team India to give an autograph and he signed the shirt of the former Indian legend.
It was an incredible moment for Dhoni as the man who brought the cricket craze to India was asking him for an autograph. Surely this wicket-keeper batsman has earned a lot of respect and name in the last decade. After the video of Dhoni signing Gavaskar’s shirt was shared online, it took little time for it to reach the top of the trends and fans loved their endearing gesture towards one of the greats of the game.

After the match got over and KKR won over the Yellow Army, Dhoni was seen hitting balls with his racquet into the stands and also did a lap of honour. This was CSK’s last home game of IPL 2023 and it is believed that the superstar wicket-keeper batsman will retire from IPL after this season.
