The International Day of Yoga aims to raise worldwide awareness of the many benefits of practicing yoga. Recognizing its universal appeal, in December 2014, the United Nations declared 21 June as the International Day of Yoga. This year people all over the world are celebrating the 9th International Day of Yoga with live celebrations.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will lead the festivities at the United Nations (UN) headquarters, which will be attended by representatives from over 180 countries. Notably, an estimated 250 million individuals are expected to participate in the event, which focuses on the theme of ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam’, meaning ‘One Earth One Future One Family’.
