The crime thriller marks Bollywood actress Sonakshi Sinha’s debut in the OTT space and features several scenes that grip the audience, unleashing deep feelings for the characters, irrespective of their moral complexities. Anjali’s (Sonakshi) mother epitomizes the strength of women who have bravely faced societal challenges while raising their daughters single-handedly. Gulshan Devaiah has given a remarkable performance embodying the multi-faceted role of a dedicated police officer, a loyal husband and a progressive father with finesse. A particular scene unfolds where he firmly ensures that his daughter gets equal opportunities as his son, insisting that she goes on school trips. Aware of the rising tension within her household, Devi Singh stands tall like a shield, unflinching in her stand. The scene itself is a masterpiece, which deserves applause.
Sohum Shah opens up on his wife
Tumbbad fame Sohum Shah shines brilliantly as Inspector Parghi, a cop who turns from corrupt to virtuous. In the bleak world in which he lives, Parghi grapples with the overwhelming responsibility of bringing a new life to such a turbulent environment. Consumed by fear, the quintessential male cop is horrified to the point of vomiting. A pivotal moment occurs when he finally admits to his wife that he is not ready to embrace fatherhood, showcasing Shah’s extraordinary acting range.
Vijay Varma as a camouflaged character
Finally, saving the best for the last, Vijay Varma charms the audience with his portrayal of a hideous and beguiling character akin to a camouflaged chameleon. As revealed by Varma himself in an interview, his character, Anand Swarnakar, switches personas to trap gullible women. But the real scene that sends chills down our spines is poet Badri Narayan reciting the love letter, at a point in the series where we know him at his best. Viewers have raved about the particular scene in the series, and how fitting and disturbing it looks. As the audience, when we truly see the heights Anand Swarnkar can reach to feed his perversions, Vijay Varma soars as an artist.
