Why does Zhenya want to be Hashira?
In the episode, Genya and Tanjiro are fighting demons together. When Tanjiro successfully takes out the demons alone, Genya becomes enraged and grabs him by the throat as she wants to kill the demons and be the first Hashira. Instead of running away at the behest of her older brother, Zhenya goes to seek a doctor’s help to help her siblings. When he returns home after sunrise, he is shocked by what he sees. The demon who attacked their home is their mother, and Genya learns that her brother killed her. Taking it all in, he blames his elder brother without realizing that Sanemi killed their mother to save Zhenya.
