Kiara Advani and Kartik Aaryan are gearing up for the release of their upcoming film Satyaprem Ki Katha. Netizens are excited to see them together after Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2. The trailer and songs have received positive response except for the recently released song Pasuri Nu. The makers recreated Ali Sethi’s hit song Pasuri for the film. The new version is sung by Arijit Singh and Tulsi Kumar, and composed by Rochak Kohli along with Ali. But this song is getting mixed reactions on social media. In a recent interview, Rochak revealed that Ali and Arjit were ‘expecting such reactions’ even before it was made.
Composer Rochak Kohli defends Paasuri remake
The original song was sung by Pakistani singer Ali Sethi and Shey Gill. It hit the chartbusters as soon as it was released. After the news of the remake was shared by the makers of Satyaprem Ki Katha, netizens expressed their disappointment about it. On Monday, when the song was finally released, it received mixed comments online. Speaking to News18 recently, Rochak admitted that he got a lot of ‘hate’ but added that as people are listening to it now, they are saying ‘it’s not as bad as we expected’ ‘
He added, “We can’t stop any kind of reaction. Even before making the remake, everyone including Ali and Arjit expected such reactions because it’s like disrupting something that’s been done really well.” So the initial reactions were only on the idea that Pasanduri was being remade as many people had not even heard the song. We launched the song on Monday morning and we got a lot of hate. As people are listening to it, Their responses have been positive and are saying that it is not as bad as we expected.”
Kohli further added that he composed the song with ‘honest intentions’ and the new version has got full approval from the original creators. He said, “We have created the song with honest intentions and best available talent. The song has full approval of the original creators. Also, we ensure that we don’t hurt anyone’s sentiments. The original song is poetic and Punjabi in nature. We decided to simplify it and keep it in Hindi. There were many challenges but overall we are very satisfied with the new version.
Shai, who recently sang the original song, said that she was not aware of the remake. Rochak clarified that she is not the producer of the song and all the rights are with Ali and Coke Studio.
Meanwhile, Satyaprem Ki Katha, which also stars Supriya Pathak and Gajraj Rao, will hit the theaters on June 29.
