Prabhas’ Adipurush released across the cinema halls on June 16 and has been receiving mixed reviews from the audience. Except for the actor’s performance as Lord Raghav, the film is being trolled for VFX, screenplay, dialogues and etc. The mythological film is doing well at the box office only because of the all-India name Prabhas. But do you know that initially he was not ready to play the role on screen. Yes, the director got convinced and finally brought him on board as Lord Ram.
Om Raut in a recent conversation talked about how he convinced Prabhas to take up the role. Speaking to India Today, the director said, “To be honest, it was not easy to convince her because I had a phone conversation with her during the pandemic when all of us were stuck. The conversation went like this, ‘He asked me what is it that you want me to play? So I said, are you serious? I mean, I want you to play the role of Lord Shri Ram. I want you to play the role of Raghav. He said, sure? I said yes. Then he started thinking how will it happen? It was impossible for such a big star to narrate the film on a zoom call.
The director recalled how he had arranged for a pilot to fly from Mumbai to Hyderabad on the same day to narrate the script to Prabhas. “I went to Hyderabad, and when I narrated the film to him, he immediately said yes. He was very upbeat and he was always someone who supported me and believed in the direction I wanted to go. He has always been there and by the grace of God, I think he will be there in future also.
