Earlier this year, director Laxman Utekar announced his next collaboration with Vicky Kaushal, in which the actor will play the role of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj. Now, in an exclusive chat with Pinkvilla, the filmmaker talks about his preparations for the much-anticipated film and when he plans to start it. “First of all, as we all know, Vicky is a very good actor. You can see it in any of his films. Also he is a wonderful person. Secondly, when the script was ready, we found an actor who We needed someone whose personality matched that of Sambhaji Maharaj. That personality and that physicality only Vicky has from the younger cast. So I thought he would be a perfect casting for Sambhaji Maharaj,” said Laxman.
Utekar also shared details about Vicky Kaushal’s preparation for the film. “We will start shooting in September. We are already in pre-production, and started prepping two months back. Vicky’s training is going on as he has to put on weight and go beyond 100 kg. He is taking training in horse riding and fencing. That’s why complete training is going on. Rest of the casting and location scouting is also underway,” said the filmmaker.

Meanwhile, he is currently promoting his soon-to-be released family drama – Zara Hatke Zara Bachke. Apart from Vicky Kaushal, the film also stars Sara Ali Khan in the lead role. It is scheduled to release on June 2.
Vicky also has Meghna Gulzar’s Sam Bahadur with Sanya Malhotra and Fatima Sana Shaikh and Anand Tiwari’s Mere Mehboob Mere Sanam with Tripti Dimri.
