Major league league 2023 is the latest T20 league which is launched by USA. The competition has attracted a lot of cricket fans following the participation of many international figures. However, the competition will operate without any official status and records achieved during the tournament will not be reflected in the career statistics of players playing in the league.
Why is MLC 2023 not counted as an official T20 tournament?

When the country’s official governing body gave permission to organize the league, the International Cricket Council (ICC) also sanctioned the league. The ICC’s approval allowed members to issue No Objection Certificates (NOCs) to their cricketers participating in the tournament.

Had the league not been sanctioned by the ICC, the tournament would have been called unsanctioned cricket, with members requested not to provide NOCs to their players.

Any tournament that is not sanctioned following the guidelines of the ICC is an unrecognized league. Players participating in such tournaments have to face big consequences. The Indian Cricket League (2007 and 2009) was deemed a “rebel league” and all players faced bans from other events.
The MLC lacks official legitimacy because it is taking place in the United States, an ally nation. Despite the lack of official recognition, the MLC is still a valid competition. Simply stated, it indicates that players’ tournament records will not be included in their career statistics.
The 2018 and 2019 Global T20 Canada events and this year’s ILT20, which were hosted by non-full-member nation the United Arab Emirates, both also lacked official status.
Talking about MLC 2023, a total of six teams are playing in the tournament. The tournament starts on 14th July. The good news for Indian fans is that the league will be available to watch in India. In this tournament, 19 matches are to be played for 18 days. Four of the six teams in this tournament are supported by IPL franchises.
