MUMBAI: Criticizing the BJP governments at the Center as well as Manipur over caste violence in the state, the Shiv Sena (UBT) on Saturday said a film titled ‘Manipur Files’ should be made. Attacking Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh, an editorial in Sena (UBT) mouthpiece ‘Saamana’ has said that violence and atrocities in the north-eastern state are worse than in Kashmir.
A video shot on May 4 surfaced on Wednesday, showing two women from one of the warring communities in Manipur being paraded naked by some men from the other side, sparking national outrage. The party said that if the Supreme Court had not taken cognizance of the matter, the Prime Minister would not have spoken on the issue.
Modi on Thursday said the incident of stripping women in Manipur has brought shame to 140 crore Indians and asserted that the law will act with all its might and no guilty person will be spared. Saamana said, in recent times films like ‘Tashkent Files’, ‘The Kerala Story’ and ‘The Kashmir Files’ have been made.

It said, “The same people should now make a film titled ‘Manipur Files’ on the violence in the state.” The party said that if there was a non-BJP government in the state, it would have been dismissed by now. It alleged that Manipur was politically unimportant to the PM and that is why the state’s situation was being ignored.
The party said that 60,000 central paramilitary forces are deployed in Manipur and yet there has been no let-up in violence. “This means that the situation has gone out of control of the PM and the (Union) Home Minister,” the editorial said.
