Former India cricketer Praveen Kumar and his son had a near-death experience when their car rammed into a trailer truck near Meerut on Tuesday. The accident happened near the commissioner’s house when a speeding truck rammed the cricketer’s car. As per reports, a case has been registered against the driver of the truck. Praveen, who was a brilliant swing bowler, grabbed everyone’s attention by being the chief architect of India’s CB tri-series victory. Praveen’s swing was difficult for the Australians to deal with as he took 10 wickets in 4 matches in the final days of the series and emerged as the find of the tour.

Do you know: Praveen Kumar once attempted suicide
In January 2020, Parveen had spoken about her deteriorating mental health, which had driven her to take her own life. Talking to Indian Express, Praveen said that once he had decided to kill himself by shooting himself in his car. A few months before January 2020, he got up early in the morning and took his revolver with him to the car. He went to the Haridwar Highway from his Meerut home to attempt suicide. “I said to myself, ‘What is this all about? Bas khatam karte hain (What is this all about? Let me end it)’.”
However, Praveen happened upon a picture in which his children were smiling gleefully. It was because of their happy faces that Praveen decided not to kill himself.
Praveen has played 84 international matches for India, including 6 Tests, 68 ODIs and 10 T20Is. He has taken 27 wickets in Tests, while has 77 ODIs and 8 T20I wickets to his name. Remember, Praveen also took 90 wickets in 119 IPL matches. Praveen made his international debut against Pakistan at Sawai Mansingh Stadium in November 2007 and played his last ODI against Pakistan on 18 March 2012.
After playing his last IPL match in 2014, the aging Praveen received constant disdain from the BCCI selectors as well as the T20 league franchises. Praveen, once an Indian cricketer, has now sunk into oblivion. Loneliness, and the hard fact that he was no longer the center of attention, crept into his life. But Praveen recovers to tell his story.
