From Rs 2,500 per month to Rs 20,000 per month, this village man increased his income 10 times with a simple trick; You can do it too

And this is how a small farmer from Jamunia village of Narsinghpur district of Madhya Pradesh became an entrepreneur.

Struggle of Chintu Singh Silavat

Chintu Singh Silavat, a small-time fish farmer from Madhya Pradesh, was once finding it difficult to manage his expenses. He was earning around Rs 25,000 to Rs 30,000 per year or around Rs 2,500 per month. He was finding it difficult to meet his household expenses and was struggling to make ends meet. He was doing fish farming in his lake but it was not producing much which was limiting his income.

Silavat said that despite working hard for one year in his 3-acre farm before 2020, he could earn only about Rs 25,000 to 30,000 annually. However, when he came to know about the biofloc technology from the fisheries department and the Rs 7 lakh loan scheme of the Madhya Pradesh government. In this, he also got a subsidy of Rs 4.50 lakh. He learned more about the Biofloc technology through the Internet. Then he started fish farming using Biofloc technology and started farming breeds like Fungus and Tilapia.

Sewing effort with Biofloc technology

Chintu Singh Silavat shared that after adopting Biofloc technology, his income has increased 10 times as compared to conventional farming. He is also training other people of his village on fish farming with this technique. Narsinghpur Collector Riju Bafna also visited his farm and appreciated his work. Sharing information about biofloc technology, Silavat said that it does not require much land. In this method, fish farming is done by making round tanks in less space. In this, the excreta of the fish is converted into protein by biofloc bacteria and thus the protein is consumed by the fish. The number of fish increases rapidly by consuming this protein. Farmers can make small or big tanks as per their convenience. Silavat has built 5 tanks in his 2000 square feet land. He also uses the water coming out of this tank for his crops. Thus the water rich in nutrients also increases the fertility of the soil.

Silavat’s earnings increase with production

Chintu Singh Silavat told that with the increase in production, now he earns about Rs 2.50 lakh per year by rearing fish with biofloc technology. He has also repaid the bank loan. Along with this, he is also earning 30 to 40 thousand rupees every month from his poultry farm.
