A journalist from a leading news outlet shared a PVR bill that has left the internet divided. According to the invoice, the cost of 55 grams of Paneer Popcorn and 600 ml of Pepsi at the Noida-based mall is Rs 460 and Rs 360, respectively. The total amount excluding movie ticket and vehicle is Rs 820. The user commented that this is almost equal to the annual subscription cost of OTT giant Amazon’s Prime Video India. “No wonder people don’t go to theaters anymore,” quipped the user. Especially in multiplexes, watching a movie with friends or family is a luxury that not everyone can afford.

The PVR snacks invoice drew a lot of reactions from netizens on Twitter. One user described the practice as violent and obnoxious, while another described it as an example of capitalism at its best. Yet another user criticized the cinemas for ‘daylight robbery’.
A user lamented how there is a difference of only ten rupees in the pricing of medium and large. According to user, it makes keeping calorie intake in mind a life-changing decision.
Another user comments that these establishments look at the average consumer as a bundle of money. He laments that despite paying more than Rs 250 for a seat in the hall, you are forced to watch advertisements for at least 20-30 minutes. There is a ban on bringing snacks and beverages from outside. Despite spending so much money, re-admission is not allowed.
