Not a wheel, it’s a ‘Whale of Fortune’. A dead whale found on a beach in the Canary Islands, La Palma, could potentially make someone very rich.
Researchers have discovered a valuable substance called ‘floating gold’ Inside the massive body of the dead whale is an astonishing sum of £425,000 (equivalent to 40 million).
Antonio Fernández Rodríguez, who leads the Institute for Animal Health and Food Safety at the University of Las Palmas, was really interested in finding out why the sperm whales died, and what he found was truly shocking.

When the expert suspected there might be a problem with the whale’s digestion, he examined the whale’s colon more closely. To his surprise, Rodriguez discovered a solid object stuck to a portion of the whale’s intestines.
According to him, what he removed was a stone approximately 50-60 cm in diameter and weighing 9.5 kg.

The institute is currently looking for a buyer for the valuable ‘floating gold’, which is worth 4 crores, with the intention of using the funds to aid victims of the 2021 La Palma volcanic eruption. The explosion resulted in over €800 million (about £685 million) in damage.
