New Delhi: Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) chief Sharad Pawar said whether he is 82 or 92, his effectiveness remains unchanged. “I am still effective, whether I am 82 or 92,” Sharad Pawar responded to his nephew Ajit Pawar’s recent comments after the party’s national executive meeting in Delhi.
Ajit Pawar’s remarks sparked discontent among party members and loyalists, triggering a series of reactions.
Ajit Pawar indirectly blamed 82-year-old Sharad Pawar for missing his chance to become the chief minister in Maharashtra in 2014 despite having the support of a majority of MLAs.

Asserting that he is still the president of the party, Sharad Pawar said that “I am the president of the NCP.”
Presiding over an important national executive meeting in New Delhi, he said, “Today’s meeting helped in boosting our morale… I am the president of the NCP.”
Sharad Pawar further said that, now, whatever we have to say, we will say in front of the Election Commission of India.
At the same time, sources have revealed that the Election Commission has received a petition from Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar claiming the election symbol of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) and the party.
Sources said that the Election Commission has also received a warning from Sharad Pawar faction leader Jayant Patil. He also informed the panel that he has initiated disqualification process against nine MLAs who joined the Eknath Shinde-BJP government in the state on Sunday.
Maharashtra’s politics has heated up ever since senior NCP leader Ajit Pawar took oath as the deputy chief minister of the state on Sunday. Ajit Pawar along with 8 other MLAs joined the Eknath Shinde-led Maharashtra government and claimed control of the Nationalist Congress Party.
