In ‘Adipurush’, Devdutt Nag portrays the iconic character of Hanuman while Vatsal Sheth plays the role of Indrajit. The scene in question involves a conversation between these two characters just before the crucial Lanka Dehan scene. As Ravana’s men capture Hanuman and present him to the king of Lanka, Ravana orders that Hanuman’s tail be set on fire as punishment. In the film, Indrajit asks Hanuman, “Jaali kya?” (Is it burning?) In a cheeky reply, Hanuman says, “Kapda tere baap ka, tel tere baap ka… jalegi bhi tere baap ki” (The cloth and oil belong to your father, so they will burn) .
The inclusion of modern-day slang like “jaali kya” in the Ramayana adaptation surprised many viewers. Some felt it was inappropriate, while others believed it was not in keeping with the tone and style of the film. One user wrote, “This movie is utter rubbish.
