Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) are reportedly on the lookout for new coaching personnel ahead of the IPL 2024 season, after deciding to part ways with director of cricket Mike Hesson and head coach Sanjay Bangar, according to reports.
Normally, IPL coaching staff contracts are up for renewal in September, and RCB indicated that their performance will be closely deliberated upon before arriving at a decision.
“His contract with RCB is still intact. The team is still in the process of review. We will get back to him if there is an announcement,” the franchise said in a statement.

Even though RCB could not clinch the IPL title, they did well during Hesson’s tenure as first coach and then as Director of Cricket Operations.
In his first season in charge in 2020, Hesson led RCB to fourth place in the league stage, but they lost to Sunrisers Hyderabad in the Eliminator.
In IPL 2021, RCB finished third on the table but lost the eliminator once again, this time to Kolkata Knight Riders.
In the following IPL, RCB finished fourth in the league table but lost to Rajasthan Royals in Qualifier 2. However, they failed to enter the playoffs during IPL 2023.
Hesson was also in charge of the Royal Challengers Bangalore women’s team during the inaugural Women’s Premier League. Smriti Mandhana-led RCB finished fourth in the five-team league.
