On May 28, cricket fans will be eyeing the iconic Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad as it prepares to host the final game of the 2023 Indian Premier League (IPL). However, the excitement and anticipation surrounding the event has been marred by mismanagement and chaos, leaving fans disgruntled and disappointed.
The IPL committee and official online ticket seller Paytm have come under heavy flak from fans for their decision to make ticket booking mandatory at the Motera stadium. This unexpected change in procedure resulted in a large crowd gathering at the venue, resulting in a situation that quickly spiraled out of control.
Dissatisfaction grew among fans, with many expressing their displeasure on social media platforms. Supporters felt cheated as they had paid a convenience fee to the ticketing service, expecting their tickets to be delivered at their designated venue. Instead, they were informed that they would have to physically pick up their tickets at the stadium, leading to long queues and frustrated fans.
The Cricket Board of India and the Gujarat Cricket Association (GCA) have acknowledged the situation and are working to resolve the issue. They are in discussion with ticketing partners to explore the possibility of accepting e-tickets at the entrance, thereby reducing the burden on fans.
Meanwhile, the cricketing action continues, with the Qualifier 2 match between Gujarat Titans and Mumbai Indians scheduled to determine the ultimate contender against Chennai Super Kings. CSK defeated Titans in Qualifier 1 to book their place in the final, while Mumbai Indians were victorious over Lucknow Super Giants in the Eliminator.
Terrifying…. Despite the fact that everything is online, still we need to get tickets in such a rush.

I had added the front row tickets to my cart and then didn’t buy just thinking that since you need to be there to physically pick them up, looks like it was the right decision.

A stampede accident will ruin the image of IPL along with the lives.
Despite this much money, BCCI has some really cheap tricks to hype up the IPL fans. They are lucky that India has a huge cricket loving population otherwise such a scenario is unacceptable in today’s digital age.

As the teams battle it out on the field, mismanagement at the Narendra Modi Stadium has cast a shadow over the final game of the IPL. The incident is a reminder of the importance of effective event organization and communication with the fans, who are the lifeblood of Indian cricket. The authorities must learn from this experience and ensure that such incidents do not recur in future tournaments, prioritizing the smooth and enjoyable experience of fans that make IPL the grand spectacle.
