New Zealand batsman Kane Williamson recently shared a heartwarming video of him playing with his daughter while recovering from injury. Williamson, who suffered a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) while fielding for Gujarat Titans (GT) in the IPL 2023 opener against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in April, underwent surgery and is currently in the rehabilitation phase. In the video, Williamson is seen playing cricket with his daughter in the bedroom.

Sharing the video on Instagram, Williamson wrote: “First competitive game back! Good to have @graynicolls_ausnz back.” Despite the injury suffered almost four months ago, it is uncertain when he will return to the field.
The injury has put Williamson’s plans to lead New Zealand in another ODI World Cup in jeopardy. However, he stressed that he has not set a timeline for his return and is taking things week by week.
“At the moment I’m just trying to take it week-by-week,” Williamson said. “I’m making progress, but I’m not putting a time frame on anything. I haven’t had an injury of such a long duration before, but talking to other people who have had injuries shows that the journey is a bit long.” It’s long, so if you look too far ahead, it could potentially be a little difficult.”
He continued, “Whereas, one week at a time, tick off those little markers, those little victories that are nice to experience. But also knowing that the journey won’t be completely smooth and you’ll have some setbacks along the way. Navigate Gotta do it.”
Williamson has been New Zealand’s top batsman in the last two editions of the ODI World Cup, leading his team to the final. If he fails to travel to India for the ICC World Cup later this year, it will be a huge blow for the Blackcaps.
