Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) star batsman Virat Kohli created history on Sunday as he hit his seventh century in the Indian Premier League (IPL) and became the first player to score the most centuries in the tournament’s history.

Kohli scored back-to-back centuries for RCB, scoring his seventh century in the tournament’s history. It was Kohli’s seventh century in the IPL – overtaking the record set by Chris Gayle (6) – and cemented his enduring influence in the format, amid debate over whether his strike rate in the middle overs affects the team.
After scoring a century in the match against GT, Kohli said at the presentation, “With five wickets down, we would have taken it with both hands. We pulled things off quite a bit towards the end. Close to 200 is a winnable score.” ” Me. This is for the bowlers to execute. I liked it very much. A lot of people think my T20 cricket is going downhill, but I don’t think so. I want to hit the intervals and then the big ones towards the end. You read the situations and get up to the situations. I’m feeling really good about my game at the moment. Getting away from spin was not easy. There is a lot for our bowlers on this pitch. Living in the present matters. I was not focusing on the rain, focusing on what I have to do for the team.”
Coming to the match, it was a vintage show for Virat Kohli as the Gujarat Titans bowlers found themselves helpless before his brilliant 101* at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium on Sunday.
RCB got off to a vintage start to the game with Faf du Plessis and Virat Kohli showcasing their batting skills and ability to control the flow of the game early in the innings. Their partnership was on display once again, which has been the focal point of RCB’s success this season. He played some brilliant shots throughout the powerplay and ended with an impressive 62/0.
After the end of the powerplay, Hardik Pandya brought in his lethal spin duo from Afghanistan – Noor Ahmed and Rashid Khan. This single move brought GT back into the game.
Ahmed achieved success by dismissing RCB captain Faf du Plessis at the score of 28(19). With Rashid dismissing Glenn Maxwell before the pitch could settle, GT began to find its feet.
Noor returned to the attack to dismiss Mahipal Lomror for 1(3). After losing three wickets in quick succession, Michael Bracewell came in and stayed with Virat to keep RCB innings going. Along with Virat, he kept the scoreboard moving, scoring runs at every opportunity. But Shami had other plans as he took the wicket of Bracewell on 26(16).
Dinesh Karthik had a chance to hold on till the last over and finish the game for RCB. However, one ball from Yash Dayal was enough for his poor form to continue in IPL 2023. Karthik leaves the crease for a golden duck.
From that moment on Anuj Rawat and Kohli changed their gears and swiftly pushed RCB towards the 200-run mark. The duo collected 42 runs in the last three overs to take RCB to a total of 197/5 in 20 overs.
