Indian cricketer KL Rahul spoke about the social media trolling and criticism faced by athletes and its negative impact on their mental health. Rahul joined internet sensation Ranveer Allahbadia as a guest on his popular podcast, The Ranveer Show.
In this episode, Ranvir Allahbadia, popularly known as Beer Biceps, highlights a valid point that criticizing Rahul and other athletes has become a trend.
Responding to Ranveer, Rahul addressed social media trolling for the first time and highlighted how it affects athletes, especially when their low phases are the times when they need genuine support from people . Rahul said: “It’s something that sometimes affects me and affects a lot of other boys that when we athletes really need support, people feel like they can comment or say can have the power to do or say what they want. Just see what it is.” The person is passing.”
The cricketer also mentioned that no athlete intentionally underperforms as everyone works hard and it is unfortunate that sometimes the results don’t go as planned.
He said: “None of us want to do poorly. That’s our life. That’s all we do. Like I said, I don’t know anything other than cricket.”
“That’s all I do. Why would anyone think I’m not serious about my sport or that I’m not working hard enough? And unfortunately sports don’t make a difference. Like I said you can work hard, Like I work hard but the result didn’t come my way.”
